Kmart employees in Albuquerque, New Mexico killed a shoplifting suspect as they detained him. Three men sat on him while he was being detained for about 20 minutes. While they had Jonathan Sorensen pinned to the ground he was apologizing to them and telling them he was scared until he became unresponsive. After he was unresponsive the three employees never tried to resistant him as they just stayed on top of him.
The video here is from a Kmart customer being told to leave as she was trying to record the aftermath and give a statement to police. The police did not want her statement at all and told her to leave even though she witnessed the entire encounter.
We have now learned that the victim has been diagnosed with schizophrenia but was otherwise healthy and a junior at the University of New Mexico.
