Ellen Leanse who used to be an executive for Google and now is working with various startups penned a post about the word “just” and why women should avoid it at women2.com. Shortly after leaving Google Ellen started to notice when a women asked a question just was added into it frequently such as “I’m just following up on…” Ellen feels just is not a polite word but is telling men that they are superior. I do not completely agree with her meaning of the word “just” but I do agree it should be avoided. It is a word that is almost always unnecessary. I challenge you to count the times a co-worker says the word and discuss this with them.
