A Michigan judge has taken a firm stand and sentenced three siblings to juvenile detention until the age of 18. The kids are refusing to adhere to the custody order and spend time with their father. This is part of a divorce case that started in 2009. In February of this year the judge ordered a mental health examination of the children who diagnosed the children with parental alienation syndrome. Parental alienation syndrome or PAS is when one divorced parents berates, belittles, badmouths, or brainwashed the children about the other parent.

How old do we think these kids are? Two are fairly young at 9 and 10 years old with the oldest being 15. They will all be housed in a separate cell at the juvenile detention center and are banned from trying to form a family behind bars. The judge warned the kids earlier this year that if they fail to obey the court order they would be found in contempt of court. Judge Lisa Gorcyca also told them “You’re supposed to have a high IQ, which I’m doubting right now because of the way you act.” The nine year old refused to talk in court which got this comment from the judge “God gave you a brain. He expects you to use it.”
The mother who allegedly abused the children is not being charged or found in contempt of court because she attempted to drop the children off with their father. In some cases like this the judge would give full custody to the other parent but the father does not live in the United States. He resides in Israel which is also where the family lived until 2009 when the mother and children moved back to the United States and filed for divorce here. The Michigan judge does not want to give up jurisdiction by giving the father full custody.
This happens all the time and not even when one parent lives out of the country some judges do not want to give up jurisdiction which makes me think judges are a control freak bunch. Instead of doing what is best for the parties involved they want to maintain control and in this case put three kids in jail. These kids are being robbed of any kind of normal childhood.
If the judge feels the father is a better caregiver give him custody. With the judge saying the mother treated her own kids like the Manson family and brainwashed them give them to the father. Don’t lock them up!
